Hi. I just found this forum and am obviously new to it, but was hoping someone here might be able to help.

I recently purchased a "new" 2005 Volvo S60 2.5T from a dealer that showed only 180 miles on the odometer. However, I have suspicions that the dealers might has used it as a loaner or demo and ten re-set the odometer shortly before selling it to me. I basically just want to know if it was reprogramed or not. Is this possible?

Sam

Hello,
If it's a Volvo dealer then you have no way to find out. They could've replaced the cluster with a new one and recoded it to the vehicle and driven it a little bit to bring it up to the mileage you mentioned. But I honestly doubt a Volvo dealer would do that.

Hello.

Yes, it is possible to read out the km stand in the second memory called CEM (central electronic module) by your Volvo dealer.

They can have change the CEM, or have it reprogramed!

Yes, TED. That's why I replied saying that if IT'S A VOLVO DEALER (I meant if indeed the SELLER is a volvo dealer) than it's impossible to find out! If you have a VADIS (original volvo scan tool) and believe me I'm sure the dealer has one than you can "erase" or "clear" any evidence of old mileage in the CEM and therefore and once again: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND OUT.
And trust me I really know what I'm talking about.

Regards,
Serge
