Need to do a mileage correction on a 2003 Volvo S80 D5. Any advice most welcome!
Prices on the continent by professional firms differ from 200 to 250 Euro in Belgium to 300 to 350 Euro in Germany. Apparently the job takes 30 minutes. So these prices imply a rate well over the hourly rate of the most expensive McKinsey & Company partner! Any idea why tacho adjustment prices are so outrageous?
Prices by take-the-money-and-run-experts are lower but I wonder whether the website-cellphone-only lads can be trusted. Volvos these days are computers with wheels attached. Screwing up a 2003 S80 system is the last thing I want.
Please advise. |

Hello,
Prices are not contageaous as you said. The service still is exclusive and if tomorrow you find a mileage calibration shop at every corner of street like grocery stores, cafes or mechanic shops, maybe the price will drop to 50 euros. And as you mentioned, we are dealing with electronics here! What if for a reason or another your dash is damaged while working on it? The guy will have to buy you a new dash and in addition to it and since it's a volvo he will have to have it recoded (with dealer tool only) so it works properly with your car. So the prices are set accordingly (part+labor+risk of wreckage+...gotta feed the kids).
