Hi all experts
Please advise what can I do after I program the S60 cluster and I am not getting any LCD display and needles not moving.
I have check and check and check many times but to no avail!!!! Initally I program the cluster without changing the crystal as I was able to read the original mileage (deviate a bit). I subsequently changed the crystal to a 4 mhz and reprogram the cluster according to the manual.
However I am still unable to get any reading when I plug it back into the car. I have even remove the legs and resolder them again (even the two on each side of those I was suppose to lift).
Please help as I am stuck with this currently......sigh. ....I know I have alot more to learn and the only ones who could guide me are you guys.
Appreciate all your kind assistance.
Thank you.
Dave. |

Hi Dave,
maybe you have damaged the processor with your
programming with the false crystal.
If you have checked all other connections....

Dear Guido,
You mentioned that I may have damaged the processor, is there any way I may be able to repair the cluster????
Do you have a avialable unit for replacement??
Thank you.

Dear Dave,
yes, i think that the processor is damaged, if you have
checked all other things and they are ok.....
Getting a Volvo cluster isnīt easy in germany, maybe you
can get a swedish contact who can help you with this.

Dear Guido,
I manage to get another cluster but the puzzling thing is that when I plug the cluster in, I was seeing the same result as the original cluster.
This cluster I manage to get is a working unit. Could there be any fuse or connection I may need to check???
Thanks again.

Dear Dave,
I think you didn't pay attention to what I said earlier about replacing a Volvo cluster. Your first one dosen't work because somehow you managed to damage it. The second shows the same result because it is simply not coded to the car. Therefore the display, the gauges will not work. Had it been a cluster equipped with a 908 I could've helped you because the Flash memory that stores the coding is a seperate IC on the board. But since your board is equipped with a 912 processor the coding might in the Flash that's in that very same processor (912) but I'm not 100% sure.
The other solution is to have a new cluster coded to the car and for that you need the dealer tool called VADIS.
